Horizon playfully separates earth and sky, the present and the future, actual and possible. Horizon defines limit yet beckons us ever ahead. Constantly shifting, joining and weaving, horizon constructs space, time and identity, drawing us to the context behind all things. Horizon exists even in darkness and fog as it is as much inside us as out.

Is canvas—are artworks generally—sacred space? Something happens to us as we deeply—visually, conceptually, emotionally, physically—explore the levels of a painting. Works of art bracket part of the world, allowing reflection and response. While not all of us agree as to how sacred space becomes that way, most of us wish we could be there.
